We are the IBW Ski Race Team!
The Ida B Wells Ski Race Team has been around for many years. The 2024-2025 team is thought to have been one of the largest at 14 athletes, but is still small compared to some other schools they compete with who have over 40 athletes.
The Wells team trains with other athletes from smaller schools in the Three Rivers League, sharing Olympic-level coaches from Willy Camp. This integration with athletes from other schools is one of the things most athletes on the Wells team love of about being a smaller team. It gives them a sense of comradery when they get to the League races and have some other athletes beyond their own team that they can share their wonderful racing activities with.
With support from parents and community donors, the Ida B Wells racing team should continue on for many years to come.

The organizing structure of high school ski racing in the State of Oregon, comprised of the “certified coaches” of the full teams throughout the state.
TRL - Three Rivers Ski League
The regional structure under which the Ida B Wells team races against other local high schools. There are three Leagues in the Mount Hood area covering all high schools from Hood River to Hillsboro - TRL, Hood River and Metro.
Willy Camp - Coaching
Willy Camp provides world class coaching, and proven training methods that have produced 11 Oregon State High School Overall Individual State Champions in the past 7 years. Parent Guide to High School Ski Racing
A document developed by OISRA and TRL to enhance parent understanding and enjoyment of our high school ski races. It provides a wealth of information about what happens at races and on race days.
Parent Background Check/Training
Required by Portland Public Schools for all parents interacting with students in a capacity where they will be a volunteer and alone with a student.
Release Forms for 2025-2026 Season:
Required by all of the ski training/race sites for release of liability and medical assistance. Be sure to complete both liability and medical forms, if instructed.
